DESCRIPTION:Perry Ground will be leading a Native American Wampum beads craft at the Library!\nDuring this session, students will learn the process of making a wampum bead, the meaning of several belts, how to create a belt, and the role wampum played in trade relationships between Native Peoples and European settlers. Each student will make and keep a Friendship Wampum, a contemporary craft with replica wampum beads.\nThis simulation is best suited for students in 3rd grade or higher who have a basic understanding of wealth and trade.\nThis program is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by GO Art!\n
